# Jot > Jot is a free Mac app for dictation, captures and meetings. It transcribes speech on the Mac and calls no language model of its own. Every recording is a folder holding recording.xml, which an agent can read, even while a meeting is still going. Recordings are in ~/Documents/Jot/ unless the person chose another folder, in Meetings/, Captures/ and Dictations/, one folder each. Read the guide for agents before reading a recording. ## Pages - [For agents](https://capturewithjot.com/agents): how to read a recording folder, recording.xml, the speakers, shots and context - [Clean up a capture](https://capturewithjot.com/workflows/clean-up-capture): turn a rough capture into feedback a person can send, one HTML page or PDF with the drawings redrawn neatly - [Dictation](https://capturewithjot.com/guide/dictation): hold the globe key, talk, let go, and the words are typed - [Capture](https://capturewithjot.com/guide/capture): talk, take shots and draw on them, and paste the lot as one message - [Meetings](https://capturewithjot.com/guide/meetings): recorded and written to a file as they happen - [The Library and export](https://capturewithjot.com/guide/library): search, copy, and export as Markdown, Word, PDF or zip - [Your words](https://capturewithjot.com/guide/your-words): names and terms Jot spells the person's way - [Settings](https://capturewithjot.com/guide/settings): what each setting does
